Sanya Central Business District has reached a strategic cooperation with Bluedream International Cruises to accelerate the layout of international cruise routes
On May 22nd, Sanya Central Business District and Shanghai Bluedream International Cruise Co., Ltd. officially signed the "Cruise Route Cooperation Agreement", and at the same time, the two sides also initially reached a three-year strategic cooperation intention. Next, both sides will jointly develop international cruise routes in Sanya. The "Blue Dream Song" cruise ship will operate no less than 10 international cruise routes with Sanya as its home port and visiting port from the fourth quarter of 2025 to the first quarter of 2026, covering popular tourist destinations such as Hong Kong, China and Southeast Asia. The two sides also reached a strategic cooperation intention on the development of cruise routes, service optimization and the joint construction of an industrial ecosystem in the next three years, marking an important step forward in the internationalization process of Sanya's cruise industry.
Qian Xiaoming, a member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Sanya Central Business District Administration Bureau, said, "This signing is an important milestone in deepening the strategic cooperation between the two sides." The Sanya Central Business District Administration Bureau previously held multiple rounds of consultations with Bluedream International Cruises, coordinating with relevant provincial and municipal functional departments to assist the enterprise in resolving issues such as berthing and port support, laying a solid foundation for the landing of BlueDream International Cruises.
The Sanya Central Business District is fully leveraging its role as a new engine for economic development, with its "attraction for investment" power continuously strengthening and industrial development "clustering in clusters". Since the establishment of the park, the cruise industry has grown strongly and there have been numerous highlights in industrial integration. Relying on Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Port, Sanya Central Business District attracts cruise companies to continuously open new routes, providing domestic and foreign tourists with more diversified and higher-quality cruise tourism experiences. In 2024, the passenger throughput of international cruise ships departing from outside Sanya visiting the port reached 54,600, demonstrating the strong growth momentum of Sanya's cruise tourism. The China-Asean Cruise Tourism Connectivity Demonstration Project has launched six routes, covering many popular destinations such as Vietnam, and has become a new bond for regional tourism cooperation.
While the cruise industry is developing steadily, the work of institutional innovation is also being actively carried out. At present, Sanya Central Business District is promoting the revision of the "Support Measures for the Development of Cruise, Yacht and Tourist Boat Industry in Sanya Central Business District". Policies will support the construction of international cruise route networks, deepen strategic cooperation with cruise enterprises, accelerate the establishment of a full-chain ecosystem covering "route development - cruise services - industrial support", and steadily advance the construction of cruise tourism pilot zones.
By 2025, the entire Hainan Island is about to be closed to customs. The Sanya Central Business District will take the cruise and yacht industry as the starting point, accelerate the release of policy and geographical advantages, and focus on building a "three-boat" economic system of "international cruise ships + premium yachts + high-end cruise ships", providing strong support for Sanya to build a cruise and yacht tourism experimental zone and a yacht industry reform and development innovation experimental zone.
