ART WITHOUT BORDERS · SANYA DIALOGUE — China-Mexico Art Salon Boosts Cultural Openness of Hainan Free Trade Port
As the exhibition period draws to an end, the resonance of art continues to flow. On March 13, coinciding with the conclusion of the "Dialogues Across the Shores: International Contemporary Art Joint Exhibition," the "ART WITHOUT BORDERS · SANYA DIALOGUE" salon, guided by the Sanya Central Business District Administration and hosted by Sanya Business District Cultural Investment Co., Ltd., was held at the Sanya CBD Cultural Relics and Art Center. The event invited renowned Mexican artist Saúl Castro to deepen China-Mexico cultural exchange through art, injecting new vitality into the cultural industry of the Hainan Free Trade Port and Sanya.
Qian Xiaoming, Deputy Director of the Sanya CBD Administration, attended and delivered a speech. He extended a warm welcome to Mr. Castro, noting that the artist's work brings a distinctive Latin American flair to Sanya, building a new bridge and opening a new chapter for China-Mexico artistic exchange. He stated that, as a frontier of the Free Trade Port's opening-up, the Sanya CBD has consistently prioritized the cultural and creative sector as a key driver of high-quality development, actively exploring new paths and models for industrial integration. The "Dialogue Across the Shores" exhibition, he added, is a concrete step by the CBD to deepen international cultural exchange and expand global cooperation.
On the same day, Saúl Castro's gallery signed cooperation agreements with the Sanya CBD Administration and the National Base for Cultural Trade Export (Sanya). The signing marks a shift from dialogue to tangible collaboration in China-Mexico cultural and artistic relations, helping to bring more high-quality international art resources to Sanya, improve the local cultural industry ecosystem, and enhance the Free Trade Port's cultural openness.

During the panel discussion, Mr. Castro shared his observations and hopes for the development of Sanya's cultural relics and art industry. Having exhibited four representative works in the "Dialogue Across the Shores" exhibition, he made a special trip to Sanya to engage in in-depth artistic dialogue with local peers, exploring the broad potential for China-Mexico cultural exchange and advancing collaboration in art creation, exhibition, and market operations. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics such as introducing international art resources, transforming and innovating local culture, and the cross-border circulation of cultural relics and artworks, reaching a shared vision for future cooperation.
Leveraging the openness of the Free Trade Port and connecting with international art resources, the salon successfully integrated cultural exchange with industry promotion. Looking ahead, the Sanya CBD will continue to host high-quality international cultural and art events, deepen partnerships with global art institutions and artists, and accelerate the development of specialized sectors such as cultural relics and art exhibition and trading, international cultural trade, and art creativity. The goal is to build a new hub for international cultural business within the Free Trade Port—empowering the city through art and connecting the world through openness.
